• Finally, the lever allows for speed control. If you’re a beginner and need to keep things slow to start with, this won’t be a problem as you can just slide the lever to whatever feels comfortable. Then, as you get used to the machine, you can slowly increase and stop at a speed that suits you.

Pros:

• One of the benefits of this machine is that it is fully computerised which is more than can be said for some of the other Singer products we have reviewed. Whilst others have stayed with the classic design with dials, the 7258 model has been overhauled in terms of design and it vastly improves performance. With the LED screen and easy controls, you can adapt your sewing machine to however you like it to run.
• We can’t list down all of the good things about this model without talking about the 100 stitch selection. With most models, you will find between 20-30 with some only offering a handful. With 100 to choose from, you can tailor your designs to each individual project. Not only does this help with important tasks, it also allows you to have fun and open up a whole new realm of opportunities.
• Also, Singer will always be a good company to buy from as they are a well-known brand and have good customer care. If something happens to go wrong with your machine, you will be able to contact someone very quickly and the problem will be solved as soon as possible. With some manufacturers based in a different country, it is hard to contact customer support and replacement parts can be almost impossible to acquire.

Cons:

• Even the best models have negatives and perhaps the biggest with this one is the fact that the stitch width has been limited to 5mm. Although this isn’t something that will make or break your decision, it is definitely something to consider if you are used to going a little wider.
• If we had to push for a second, we could combine a couple of little negatives such as the plastic pedal and the lack of a carry case. However, these are both minor complaints. When it comes to the case, Singer sell their own universal case which can be acquired for a reasonable price if necessary.

A: Yes, there are a number of compartments where the accessories can be stored away for later use.

Q: Does it need maintenance?

A: If you feel as though the performance has dropped a little after buying, Singer sells its own oil which you can use to refresh it a little.

If you’re a beginner, you may find the investment a little high but bear in mind that everything you will need comes with the device and you won’t be likely to buy another machine for years to come. If you’re more experienced, the 100 stitches will allow you to get on with multiple projects. Both performance and design excel and you will not be likely to regret spending the extra money on this model!
